Joanne & Gavin
Married in April 2026
Getting to Know You
Could you tell us a little about yourselves?
We’re Joanne and Gavin — Gavin is originally from Waterford and Joanne is from Mahon. We’ve been together for seven years and have now been married for six wonderful weeks.
What have the first few weeks of married life been like for you?
Married life so far has been great. We’re settling back into normality after all the excitement of the wedding and are still receiving lovely well wishes from family and friends.
Your Wedding Day
Looking back, what moment stands out most from your wedding day?
For both of us, the standout moment was walking down the aisle. Seeing the room filled with all the people we love was incredibly special, and Gavin says seeing Joanne for the first time walking up the aisle was overwhelming in the best possible way.
Choosing Rochestown Park Hotel
What drew you to hosting your wedding at Rochestown Park Hotel?
We had our first date at Rochestown Park Hotel, so it was naturally one of the first places we thought of for our wedding. We’d also always heard wonderful things from family and friends about the food, service, and atmosphere, so it felt like an easy decision.
What were your top priorities when choosing a wedding venue?
Service and food were two of our biggest priorities, along with making things easy for guests who were travelling. With Gavin being from Waterford, many of his family and friends were staying overnight, so having plenty of accommodation available gave us great peace of mind.
Guest Experience
What feedback did you receive from your guests about the day and the venue?
Our guests were incredibly complimentary about the whole day. From the ceremony right through to the residents’ bar, everyone at Rochestown Park Hotel was so helpful and accommodating. A number of guests also made use of the leisure centre the following morning and said they would definitely return again.
How did you find the food and service overall?
The food and service were fantastic from start to finish. The food, in particular, was something so many guests commented on afterwards. The menu was tailored to exactly what we wanted and everything was absolutely beautiful on the day.
What was your impression of the atmosphere on the day?
The atmosphere was electric all day long. From start to finish, there was such a fun and celebratory feeling throughout the hotel. Cork were playing hurling that day and, as huge fans ourselves, the team in the drinks reception kindly put the match on for everyone — which kept all the dads and hurling supporters very happy!
Gratitude & Advice
Is there anyone special you’d like to thank for helping make your day so memorable?
We’d genuinely like to thank everyone at Rochestown Park Hotel for everything they did from the moment we booked our wedding. Everyone was an absolute pleasure to deal with. A special thank you to Joanne in Reservations, Ashling in Sales, and especially Shiby, our wedding coordinator, along with Mary who looked after us during dinner and was an absolute saint on the day.
What advice would you give to couples currently planning their wedding?
Enjoy every minute of it because the time goes by so quickly. We’d also say to plan a wedding that you yourselves would love to attend as guests — if you know you’ll enjoy it, chances are everyone else will too.

Winners of The Rochestown Park 'Happily Ever After' Competition
When Katie and Paudie celebrated their wedding at Rochestown Park Hotel, it was a true full-circle moment. Having attended a Macra na Feirme event together at the hotel in the early days of their relationship, returning to celebrate their wedding day here made the occasion even more meaningful.
Captured beautifully by photographer Grace McMahon, their candid wedding photographs perfectly reflected the joy, personality, and atmosphere of the day, ultimately winning Rochestown Park Hotel’s ‘Happily Ever After’ Wedding Competition.
“From the moment wedding planning began, the team made us feel completely looked after.”
